(Delhi) “I get up at 4 a.m. and I send my children to school. I finish all the household chores- cooking, cleaning and washing and then I work here. I braid hair. My husband’s and my incomes barely manage to run the household. There is never enough money for medicines for the children or their school fees. Recently, we had to borrow a lot of money to treat an infection in my daughter’s leg. So we are in a lot of debt. With rising prices of vegetables, sugar and oil, sometimes I can only manage to give plain rotis to the children.”
